New Bound and Chi-Chi Colors/Sizes!
Above is our new Bound all natural hand mirror. We made three of these for Bird several weeks ago on special order and liked them so much that we decided to add them to our online shop.
Above and in the two below images are our new Chi-Chi, Fat Strand necklaces (modeled nicely below by our intern Claire) that we are now offering in yellow and green. They are $36.00 and can be found in our online shop.
And finally, we now have Chi-Chi, 3 Strand Yellow necklaces. We originally made these on special order for The Whitney Museum Store and now they are available in our online shop as well.

Sololá is here!!

In 2006, while still students at RISD, James, Brit and I were part of an amazing wintersession course taught by Mimi Robinson called Bridging Cultures Through Design. Working with artisan communities in Guatemala, we developed a series of textiles goods celebrating Guatemalan textile traditions. The products went to market and continue to support sustainable incomes for those artisan groups that we collaborated with.
We are excited to now be offering one of the designs from that collaboration, called Sololá, in the Grain Shop! Here is the official description:
Sololá celebrates the artistry of Guatemalan women weavers. Each purse upcycles a vintage huipil (traditional women's blouse woven on the backstrap loom) to create an individual statement. Turned inside-out, the huipils are an explosion of color and handwork. Each purse is assembled by Guatemalan artisans in Antigua from textiles sourced at the famous Chichicastenango Market.
Sololá will be available in two sizes at $38 and $60. Each purse is made in Antigua, Guatemala and is totally unique.

Ty at Bitters Co. in Seattle!

You can get your fix at Bitters Co. in Fremont. We have been long time fans of this eclectic general store. If you don't know it, you should. Everything is designed by the owners, Katie and Amy Carson or sourced directly from artisans. The Carson sisters have backgrounds in cultural anthropology, art and furniture design. They initially started the store to sell things they collected from their travels.
Some of our favorites are the flip-flop doormats, Guatemalan textile hand towels, and Amy Carson designed folding tables.
Read more about Bitter Co. on Apartment Therapy here or visit their website here. Above photo of the storefront from here.
